Seasonal, patient, and worth the early start
Between roughly July and October, humpback whales pass along the west coast. We go further out than usual, keep the regulation distance, and wait. Nothing is guaranteed — that is exactly what makes a sighting worth it.
We follow the national observation guidelines for marine mammals: no approach closer than the legal limit, no swimming with whales, engine neutral when they surface nearby.
